The power of seating by Sung-Hyun Kyung, Jesse Weser & Gesthimani Papadopoulou

"To express each character, a standard chair was transformed to personify each power and to explain their unique meanings individually. The final exhibition is called Power of Seating.

The chair developed for Queen Elizabeth II evokes authority and command. In order to give the user the sense of supremacy, the chair has been raised with 2 additional steps.

"The Thinker" chair emphasizes the power of mind by suggesting thought through a position of solitude. The front legs kneel in unison with the arch of the back expressing the will to think.

Superman's chair demands the participation and strength of the user. The front legs have been removed and the chair cannot stand alone. In order for the user to sit, he/she needs to use the force of his/her own legs. "

"Rotterdam-based designer Reinier de Jong has designed an extending bookcase.

Called REK, the bookcase consists of five parts, which slide out to accommodate books in the resulting voids as the user accumulates them.

Information from the designer:

The zigzag shaped parts slide in and out of each other, providing as much space as needed. With REK there will be no silly sights of half an empty bookcase anymore because REK will always be full. Also with the different spaces that appear you can arrange your books according to their size.
The outside of REK is finished with white high gloss laminate. The inside is finished with another type of laminate, in this case warm grey satin." added on 2008-12-04

Presenting polyurethane foam cushions with white leatherette upholstery, the Kosmos comes in a spherical shape wherein you can sit with your friends, have a drink and meal on an added table and relax on the comfortable lounge. The Kosmos comes with a seating capacity of up to nine people, which reduces to two or three people, when used as a bed or lounge."

STACK is a modular furniture system that is reduced to just one element. The elements are stacked and stuck together with industrial velcros.

There are no borders in the variety of combinations,when stacking the STACK. Comparable with the well known Lego, you can build your own world as you like. Stool table, shelf and arm-chair are just examples. The "C" form makes it possible.

"The GJ Chair, and the GJ Nesting Table marks the beginning of a new era for Lange Production, who will also start producing furniture of numerous other designers.
Retention of the Form, Function & Finish in Grete Jalk's world famous furniture from 1963 has been crucial to Lange Production.

Due to the complexity of the chair's design, only around 300 copies were originally produced. Only a few remain in existence today. Lange Production has chosen to launch the furniture in their original wood species, Teak and Oregon Pine. All of the furniture will be manufactured in Denmark by the leading manufacturer of moulded plywood products."
